I am Shonté Reed, a third-year dental student at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry. I am beyond honored to serve as the 2022-2023 National Vice President of the Student National Dental Association!

I am a native of Kansas City, Missouri and received my bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Missouri Columbia [ MIZ-ZOU!]. I later received my master’s in Biomedical Sciences from the Kansas City University of Medicine. Upon matriculating into UMKC, I began my service on my local SNDA’s executive board immediately as Historian [D1], President [D2], and currently serving a second term as President [D3].

Our organization prides itself on creating spaces unique for minority students. SNDA provides access to resources that propel, educate, and expose minority students forward as we pursue opportunities along this dental journey. As Vice President, I will work closely with our National President, Kamal Smith, to carry out his strategic plan that will continue to propel our organization forward as we kick off the next 50 years of SNDA! I will also take on the lead in

coordinating the meeting schedule and agenda of our next annual convention. I’m excited to work with our current leadership to bring our general body another exciting year of programming!
