Hello SNDA Family!

My name is Nnamelu Akunne and I am a third-year student at Howard University College of Dentistry.

I am extremely excited and honored to serve as your 2023-2024 Representative to the NDA Foundation! I am from Houston, Texas and I earned my Biochemistry degree from the University of Houston in 2019.

I have served in various leadership positions in my institution which will further assist me in my role in the national SNDA chapter. My goal is to ensure that the organization continues to serve minority students in the best way possible. Increasing networking opportunities, ensuring that members’ voices are heard and seeking to connect dentists and dental students more are at the forefront of my vision. Mentorship is also very important and I aim to emphasize that during my term serving as your Representative to the NDA Foundation. I wholeheartedly believe in continuing to give back and pay it forward and I seek to do so during my term.

During my time on the Executive Board, I will effectively be serving as the liaison to the NDA Foundation, essentially serving as a middleman between both the NDA Foundation and the SNDA. I will serve as the chairperson of the Darryl Hawkins Scholarship Program, reviewing applications and presenting applicants to the executive board for review. And I will also be serving as the coordinator of the Rites of Passage Ceremony.
For all other suggestions, questions, and concerns, please do not hesitate at all to reach out to me! Thank you
