Hello SNDA Family

My name is Dr. Reina Ransom, and I am a graduate of Hampton University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. It has been such an honor to serve as the 50th President of the Student National Dental Association, and I am so excited to transition into the role of immediate past president. In this role I will help to advise the executive board on SNDA operations and help to execute the plan of Student Dr. Kamal Smith.

During my leadership, we executed the strategic plan titled: Focusing Within. We spent our Golden year focusing our attention on increasing benefits for the members within our organization. We created several new programs and expanded upon others to bring new opportunities to our members. The Office Hours seminar series highlighted minority faculty members from dental schools across the country in order to increase exposure to the field of academic dentistry. Our financial seminar series led by Dr. Chidi Ezeokoli and Student Dr. Clarence Cochran gave members access to valuable information about how to be financially strong. Our partnership with the Mayo Clinic helped to expose members to the various residency programs available within their hospital, through a 3 part seminar series. Our Vice President, Student Dr. Jaerae Dell worked to expand upon the HBCU Connect Program, by hosting monthly seminars with dental school admission representatives from across the country. We ended our busy year with the first ever independent SNDA meeting, held in Orlando, Florida. This meeting was a huge success, and I am excited to see the continued growth of our organization under the leadership of fellow Tar Heel, Kamal Smith.
